Grace Gospel By-Laws

Officers, Terms and Responsibilities

All officers, excepting pastor and trustees, shall be elected for a period of one year.

TRUSTEES

  1. Agreeable to the laws of the state, the church shall elect seven trustees or more as needed.

  2. The term of the trustees shall be three years.

  3. The trustees shall hold in trust the property of the church, sign such mortgages and notes as the church may require, see to the insurance of the church property and fulfill all requirements of civil law respecting the trustees of a church, subject to the instructions of the church to which they shall make a report at regular business meetings.

  4. The trustees shall see that the church buildings are open for worship, the teaching and preaching of the Word of God, the administration of the sacraments, and the holding of such religious services or other meetings as are in harmony with the constitution of the church. They shall see that order is maintained during all services and meetings.

RECORDER

The church secretary shall keep an accurate record of all congregational meetings and any other meetings designated by the church.

TREASURER

The church treasurer shall credit in proper form all moneys received, counted and deposited in a bank approved by the church. The treasurer’s books shall be available to the official board of the church at any time and shall be audited once each year. He shall give a report of all moneys received and disbursed at each regular business meeting.

LAY LEADER

The lay leader shall be a student of the Bible and acquainted with, believe in, and live according to the doctrine of the church. He shall be faithful in attendance at the worship services of the church. In the absence of the pastor, or at his request, he shall conduct the regular prayer or midweek services of the church in a manner spiritually helpful to the members. In the absence of the pastor he shall see that services are held at the regular appointed days and on time.

SUNDAY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT

The Sunday School Superintendent shall be the overseer of the Sunday School in cooperation with the pastor. He shall study the educational program of the church and further any suggestions for its improvement and success. He shall see that all teachers are faithful in discharging their duties and teaching such doctrines as are in accordance with the doctrine of the church. He shall be assisted by the Assistant Sunday School Superintendent.

BUSINESS MEETINGS

a. There shall be a regular monthly business meeting to hear reports of the various offices and departments and to consider and act on new business. This meeting may be postponed until the following month if the pastor, secretary and lay leader feel there is not enough business to be considered.b. The voting members present at any business meeting shall in accordance with the constitution and by-laws be considered a quorum for the transaction of business.

c. All members of the church twelve years of age or over, who are in good and regular standing at the time, may vote on all matters brought before the church, with the exception of the election of trustees, when members must be eighteen years of age or over
